circularly polarized light

Post by Sunxl »

Dear developers,

For a two-dimensional magnetic system that includes SOC, I want to calculate the SHG components under left-handed and right-handed circularly polarized light, for example, if the polarization direction of the light is x + iy and x - iy. I have the following several questions (I am currently using version 2.0.0 of Lumen):

1、What is the setting of circularly polarized light in nonlinearity?
2、For circularly polarized light, how should the settings be made in fixsymm.in when removing symmetry?
3、If I want to study the effects of different circularly polarized light on the first-order absorption spectrum and excitons, how should I calculate it?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Dear Sunxl,

in real time simulations, you can include circularly polarized fields. See here: https://www.lumen-code.org/wiki/index.p ... zed_fields
However, after doing that, you need to properly define the quantities you want to extract from the simulations...

An alternative is to perform 2 (or more) simulations, with the fields linearly polarized along different directions, and from them extract the different components of the SHG tensor. This should allow you to define the elements of the tensor in the circular basis.

Best,
